Donate or Recycle Your Electronics

Did you know? If we recycled all of the 130 million cell phones that are thrown aside each year in the
United States, we could save enough energy to power more than 24,000 homes for a year.

So the next time you purchase a new cell phone, don't toss your old one in the trash can or a closet.  Recycle your old cell phone. If the cell phone  is still in good working condition consider donating it to a program that will either sell them to benefit a charity group or to someone less fortunate. Some recycling programs also work with schools or organizations to collect cell phones as fundraising ventures.
Some Key Benefits Of Recycling:
  • Helps your Community
  • Saves the Environment
  • Saves Money
  • Saves Energy
  • Saves Natural Resources
  • Makes the World A Better Place
Electronic waste (e-waste) is a world wide;  many developed countries, including the U.S., ship their discarded electronic devices to less developed parts of the world. Oftentimes, the e-waste is not properly dismantled and burned, producing toxic emissions harmful to workers at the waste site, children, and communities in the proximity.  It is important for cell phone users to dispose of and recycle their devices responsibly and ethically.

Remember recycling programs are managed at state and local levels - you can easily find information on recycling in your community.

Be sure to remove all personal data from your device before recycling for your protection.

Take advantage of Apple Give Back Program!
Apple allows you to trade in an eligible device for credit toward your next purchase, or get an Apple Store Gift Card.  If your device isn’t eligible for credit, they state they will  recycle it for free.  Please call your local Apple store or visit them online at for information on this program.
